Does DNA have conscience

This blog might be a little philosophical when compared to my other writings.

The life of DNA is simple.

Replicate → Order the RNA to function

Ensure          ←   Receive the signal to

everything is             perform better

running smooth

DNA replication is nothing but being born. It is born a boss and takes full responsibility for the organism. When something goes wrong, the DNA orders self-destruction.

But is it really that simple?

Imagine a car. Say during a drive, the tire gets punctured. Sure it is not advised to move ahead as it will badly affect the car. But it is possible to drive anyway right? If you know a puncture shop nearby, you take the risk and go there. Who decides? The one who knows better would carefully calculate all the risks involved. Maybe call the puncture shop and verify if he is open. Maybe directly call the auto service and get the vehicle towed. Finally, the boss decides if the tire needs a patch or needs a whole replacement.

If we replace the car with a living cell, DNA with the driver, and the faulty tire with a misleading signal, the DNA has to decide the fate of the cell. So now the question is does the DNA take a calculated risk and perform its duty or just follow the protocol? Which of the two ways will give an optimum benefit to the cell?

When you look at it as a whole and not just individual cells and DNA inside it, isn't this the distinguishing factor between a living cell and an AI?

So does that mean the DNA has a conscience of its own?

Do you have any thoughts about this? Let me know!
