Time to rest and reset

This blog is dedicated to my toddler's new dimensional life.

I had the privilege of taking some time off my paid job. With the support of my loved ones, I am resting. I am having slow mornings and am away from my hustling life. My toddler has her summer holidays and is experiencing life with me, spending quality time with soil and rain.

The life of my toddler before this big change has been very monotonous but never boring.

Screen time has always been limited for her. I feel it is important that she has a basic knowledge of the technology so that she doesn't get scared when presented with tasks. She should be able to figure it out with little assistance. That's why she spends time with cell phones, laptops, and television with supervision.

She has a ton of friends around who play together. That is another thing that keeps her occupied and learning social skills.

She has a loving family where we eat food together, at least once a day, mostly dinner. That's when we get time to reflect back to our day. We talk about our day and involve her to share her thoughts.

I decided to provide a new dimension to her development. I moved to our village! And guess what, we are having a fantastic time learning to live. I am learning to live in the present and she is learning to live with other living beings.

Let's dwell on my dear daughter's experiences:

  • Feedings cows. Of course, it's a village.

She also feeds sugar to ants and plucks flowers for bees. She takes the kitchen waste out to plants on the farm. The best part, she got to witness the waste turning to manure. She was so happy when she saw a few tender leaves shoot up.

  • Her new friends are the butterflies and insects around the house.
Patience, resilience, and hard work are her research topics currently. Not only that, she plays with mud under the sun, dances in the rain, and has dinner under the stars. They are all her new friends.

  • Her newfound joy in cycling
Her cycle is no more contained indoors nor is she. She gears up every morning and evening with her grandpa to roam around the area. Yes, her grandpa cycles too. And her resting time is filled with stories and imagination. Not to mention her uninterrupted and instructed playtime.
  • And a huge helping hand.
I don't know how many people would agree with me, but there's is nothing wrong in involving the little hands in cleaning and cooking. And yes she does help me out. She washes tiny spoons and glasses while I take up the bigger utensils. She takes on smaller clothes to wash while I clean her literally soiled dress. When it rained really hard the other day, she moped the floor. And I did not tell her to do it at all, but I just let her do it.

She is a curious kid. Always has a why question lined up to ask me. I would like to think that I have given her further opportunity to think and come up with new why questions.

What are your thoughts on this new series of events? Do you ever wish you could do the same? Maybe sit on the floor and eat or read with a lamp for a change?
